I’m not sure what brought you here or how you found this page, there’s a good chance that I may not even know you. I’d like to introduce myself.
I spent a lot of my life doing things…I sought meaning through my career. Looking back, this might sound really crazy but at one point, I felt like If I could get promoted to a management position where I was given a company car and a cell phone, I would be satisifed. Bear in mind that at that time, very few people had cell phones. So this was a big deal to me.
Guess what?
One day I got called into my manager’s office. He told me that they had reviewed my position, and it was worthy of having a company car and a cell phone. I remember the euphoria of going to the company care dealership and picking up my brand new car. To this day, I remember that new car smell! Very few people in my company had the benefits that I now enjoyed. I had access to the board of directors. I had it made. Or so I thought… It wasn’t long before this euphoria died out.
What i thought would bring me lifelong satisfaction just became commonplace and ordinary. I again came to the place where I felt like life just had no meaning. I woke up, went to work, interacted with my friends. And the cycle repeated day in and day out.
Over the years I have traveled a lot, and met many people from completely different walks of life. Though they were from completely different walks of life, one thing was the same for everyone whether they voiced it or not. They were searching for the meaning of life.
Some search for meaning through career, through relationships, through drugs, through possessions, among other things. There was a common theme for all these people. They were trying to fill a void with something. Some of these people have finally found meaning to life. Their stories are on this website.
